The white degree completes the circle. It unites all the principles and practices of the colored degrees. Its horizon is all the building blocks together. Those who have achieved the white degree are constantly working on all facets of the value system. However, since such equal attention is difficult to establish, we expect the clean code developer to start working in the grade system again after some time.
By returning to the red degree he can concentrate a little more on a section of the value system in his daily practice. This serves to refine the application of the aspects of the individual degrees. Example: The practice of version control is not binary. Anyone who has used it from the red level onwards does not necessarily make full use of it. If you go back from the white to the red level, you give yourself the chance to go deeper into version control in the repetition. There is no principle, no practice that would not benefit from being revisited in repeated runs of the grade system.
For us, the return from the white to the red degree is also an expression of the understanding that iterations are not just a practice for software projects. Rather, iterations define the basic pattern of learning. Learning happens in loops and requires repetition.
Furthermore, we believe that shedding the white armband in favor of the red one is an act of modesty and humility. This is not to add a spiritual dimension to the CCD value system, but merely to make it clear that software development is an eternally revolving wheel of learning. Anyone who believes that they have reached the end, or that they can reach it at all, is deluded. On the other hand, those who follow white with red are aware of the learning cycle.
As already mentioned elsewhere, the grades do not represent a rating. Whoever is blue degree is no better than the one who works on the orange degree works. The grades only divide the entire value system into chunks and put them in an order that we consider easy to follow. In this respect, a developer who has successfully worked on the white grade does not give up anything if he starts again at red.
If you still don't like it, you can repeat the "colorful degrees" in any order. They can decide to focus their attention on the aspects of any degree for a certain period of time. Beginning again with the red level simply ensures that all aspects are subsequently deepened.
We continue with the red degree.
